Our sustainability plan.
As a blueprint for the organization's commitment to sustainability, we have chosen to look to the United Nation. The United Nations released 17 Sustainable Development Goals that provide a blueprint for governments, the private sector, and civil society to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all. To do our part, we looked at their goals and identified how we might contribute. Through our operations, we will strive to create programs to help contribute to these 17 goals. Listed below, with their definitions are our primary contribution and our longer-term aspiration to each.
Overarching Explanation
Our contributions to the Sustainable Development goals stem from a few basic concepts rooted in the three pillars of sustainability (Economic, Environmental, and Social):
Economic: TreeFree's agricultural foundation shifts the forestry and fossil-fuel industries from centralized resource-owning companies to decentralized farmers around the world producing feedstock for an array of products. In doing so, TreeFree creates new jobs for farmers globally, boosting people's and communities' incomes. Increased wealth helps address and alleviate issues throughout the 17 goals.
Environmental: TreeFree's use of NileFiber as a feedstock instead of forests and fossil fuels both decreases total carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and safeguards against deforestation. Furthermore, Treefree has worked to achieve SOP for farming its product in a manner that is considered carbon-neutral or carbon-negative as a closed-loop solution.
Social: Treefree’s infusion of capital and wages into communities close to the end-use manufacturing of our feedstock/plants supports the development and access to social services.
We have large aspirations, but we are focused.
Per our corporate Mission and Vision, we are focused on CleanAir & Clean Earth. In time we aspire to address as many of the UN Sustainability Goals as we can but the (3) below reflect our business model and are most achievable.
Ensure access.
Goal Description:
Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.
Our Contribution:
TreeFree’s torrefied NileFiber can provide carbon-neutral energy to communities currently reliant on coal.
TreeFree’s pellets, when combined with mobile pellet units, can provide sustainable and off-the-grid electricity to communities without electricity infrastructure
Combat CO2 emissions.
Goal Description:
Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Our Contribution:
NileFiber’s carbon sequestration capabilities transforms products that may be carbon intensive into carbon neutral or negative, having a profound influence on global carbon dioxide emissions.
Inclusive, safe, and sustainable.
Goal Description:
Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, and sustainable.
Our Contribution
Growing NileFiber and the production of NileFiber-based goods will make cities have a smaller carbon footprint.
Growth of electrified transportation provides opportunities for TreeFree's pellet products to promote cleaner and less polluting transportation.
Provide phytoremediation technology.
Goal Description:
Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages.
