Nile Fiber™ is a specialized cultivar of Arundo Donax. Nile Fiber™ was developed by TreeFree Biomass Solutions, Inc. (“TreeFree”).  Beginning in 1999, TreeFree commissioned scientific research at the University of Washington, Washington State University and Auburn University to pioneer, verify and patent revolutionary standards for utilizing Nile Fiber™, as well as develop international patents for planting, growing, harvesting and refining Nile Fiber™ for cost effective solutions for bioenergy, industrial, biotech and consumer enterprises, including high quality pulp, paper, building materials, bio-fuels, bio-energy, pharmaceutical products, chemicals and more --- all without destroying a single tree.

Using TreeFree technology, per acre net biomass production is more than 15 times that of trees. Nile Fiber™ can grow up to 30 feet in height in less than a year. The crop never needs replanting and will continue to grow indefinitely, allowing the harvesting process to be repeated every 9-12 months.

Nile Fiber™, or Arundo Donax, is also a non-invasive plant species, and is a sterile plant that is not capable of spreading without mechanical intervention.  Further, since it does not spread by seeding, it can be easily, and permanently, remediated in any areas that it is planted accidently, or is no longer wanted.

Nile Fiber™ - Strategic Benefits

The following is a summary of the Primary Strategic Benefits of Nile Fiber™ as a bioenergy feedstock.

Risk Reduction with Brand Name -Trade Marked, Proprietary Cultivars

Distinguishable cultivar -“ Easily controlled and identified outside

of a cultivated field

Proven Successful Propagation Methodologies -“ Exponential replication rates at low costs

Elite cultivars -“ Selected for specialized performance in unique environments and focused end uses

Diverse genetic complement of cultivars and ecotypes - Greatly reduces pressure from pathogens and environmental stresses

Perennial lifespan of plant -“ needs planting only once every 20-30 years

Low impact, self-sustaining, Carbon negative approach utilizing proprietary and patented systems ensuring robust growth, consistent yields and superior performance, year after year

Inexpensive propagation, 60% less than other
techniques, greater survivability, more plants per acre.

Utilizes standard planting and harvesting techniques,

requiring no specializes equipment.

Yields per acre exceed other biomass plants by as much as
300%

High energy content - 8,000-8,400 Btu per lb.

High yield - 20-25 tons per acre

Year round production - 2 harvests per field per year.

Rapid Growth crowds out weeds – significant soil carbon sequestration.

Low Fertilizer requirement- extensive perennial root system.

No net CO2 emissions – Zero net carbon emissions to atmosphere.

Prevents soil erosion.

C3 and C4 Photosynthetic pathway traits

Constant energy ratio/conversion factorization.

Adaptable to many industries, energy, fuels, glycol's, pulp and paper, composite boards, phytoremediation, carbon sequestration, fertilizer production and animal feeds.

Ability to propagate thousands of acres at a time at several locations with unskilled labor.

Sustainable - Low impact, Self-Sustaining Yields
